Come spend a week in the sewing studio learning the fundamentals of apparel sewing with Emilie and Bree!
Over the course of this class, beginning sewists will learn fundamental garment sewing techniques including how to read and alter patterns, how to select the right fabric for their project, proper scissor and rotary blade technique, basic machine stitches, how to sew buttonholes and zippers, as well as garment hemming and seam finishing techniques. Each Huckleberry Sewing Lab sewist will have an individualized garment project that is tailored to their level of experience and interest.
For the best Sewing Lab experience, participants should have some basic knowledge of hand sewing. Machine sewing knowledge is not required.
Sewing Lab is SAFETY FIRST for all our sewists and teachers. If your child is unable to participate in a group sewing class setting safely, Huckleberry Art Lab reserves the right to cancel their Sewing Lab enrollment. If this should occur, you will be provided with a pro-rated refund or the option to schedule individual sewing classes, if your sewist needs more hands-on supervision to be safe.
*Sewing Lab involves the use of crazy sharp fabric scissors, rotary blades (just a wheel-shaped razor), HOT IRONS and sewing machines that can put a needle right through a finger. If you have any concerns about your child’s ability to safely handle these tools in a group class setting, please speak with Emilie or Bree prior to registering.
**To maximize our sewists’ chances of going home with a fully finished garment, each Sewing Lab project is individually tailored. Emilie will be reaching out to you prior to class to discuss your child’s sewing experience, interests and what skills they would like to focus on with this project.
